Other people prefer to set up their blog on their own because it doesn’t involve any out of pocket expense. This option is more lengthy because there is a learning aspect involved. When developing a blog on your own, you first need to decide whether to use a free hosted blog, or to pay for a self-hosting blog. These two options are not the same and will give you different results.

Typically when choosing between paying for something or getting it for free, most people would choose the free side. Now when it comes to blogs, you have to think of your desired outcome. If you want to have a personal website for your friends and family to keep tabs on you, then the free version would suit you just fine. These both have simple installation setup for a Wordpress blog. I say Wordpress, because this is the most useful blogging platform out there. If you’re going to do it right, you want to use the one with the most options, and the greatest support. However, note that Wordpress has two different options. Wordpress.com is the free site, and Wordpress.org is the self-hosted site.
